"Whispering Leaf"

We were invited to bid on a special project for Knowles Park by the City of Kelowna. The sculpture was a large leaf shaped pergola to be placed above 2 benches to accent the "maze" flower bed on the East side of the park. We won the bid...hey!!

The overall structure is 18 feet long, 8 feet wide and 9 feet in the air on 3 legs cemented in the ground. It weighs just under 500 lbs.

Hope everyone enjoys the project as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Here are some of the pictures of the construction and installation of the project we named "Wispering Leaf".

The metal is being formed by huge rollers into the shapes we need to construct the "Leaf".

The "Leaf" comes to life at our studio.

The truck has come to transport the "Leaf" to Knowles Park in Kelowna.

The "Leaf" arrives at Knowles Park and is lifted into place.

The "Leaf" was painted black after the welding was finished and is ready for all to enjoy.

We are very proud of this project and hope everyone enjoys it as well as we enjoyed creating it.

"Fulfillment"

We were invited to bid on a special project for the Canadian Mental Health Association's new transition house "Willowbridge". The concept behind this project was to work with the people that would be using the Transition House or have used it in the past; to create something special to commemorate the opening of their new building and with the help of the staff at the CMHA, anyone who wanted to be a part of the process was invited to join us to talk about what it meant in their lives and transform their feelings and ideas into a piece of artwork that would represent these concepts. After that meeting, Edward worked with these concepts to create the sculpture we called "Fulfillment". It represents the changes in their lives from needing help to the transition of becoming productive members of our society, the fulfillment and joy of their new lives. We felt very previlaged to be a part of this special project.

At the dedication cerimony, there was a few hundred people including Kelowna Major Sharon Shepard, MP Stockwell Day, MLA Rich Coleman, CMHA staff, media personal and general public. The process from the original meetings to the completion of the piece was videotaped by Melissa Strazelec, a graduate from UBCO as a permanent part of this project.

The sculpture was completed October 2010.

Camp Arbuckle

We were commissioned to create 2 sets of belchers for the kids to sit around the firepit at Camp Arbuckle. The project was commissioned by Patrice at Knox Mountain Metal and the metal was provided by Knox Mountain Metal. There are 5 sections welded together to create a half circle with high density plastic seating and foot rest. Each half circle would seat 15 to 20 children. The belchers were such a success that they commissioned an additional 2 sets which we will have delivered in early December 2010.

Community Garden's "The Lively Trio"

We were commissioned to create a garden sculpture for the Community Gardens in Kelowna (Mission area). With the bright colors on the carrot, tomato and pea pod, this sculpture should make everyone that sees it happy and inspired. It weighs about 100 lbs., stands 6 1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide.

Community Garden's "The Working Carat"

We were commissioned to create a sculpture to celebrate the fun of gardening for the lucky people involved in community gardens in Winfield. We met with several of the gardeners and members of KDSCL (brain injury society, and in colabration with both groups, using some of their old tools we created this unique and fun sculpture. The outline is shaped like a very large carrot as this is one of the most planted vegetable in the gardens. The inside has a variety of old tools, each with their own "quirky" faces. The name comes from "Working" for the people involved in the garden ang the tools within the sculpture. The "Carat" comes from the sculpture representing a carrot; spelling Carat for diamond in the rough as the carrot is more of a outline with pieces in the middle.

On a beautiful sunny day in November, we installed the "The Working Carat". It was dedecated the following Monday which happened to the the first snow day of the year.

Loggers on a Roll

This sculpture was created for the City of Enderby Arts Council to reflect an appreciate for days gone by. They are 5 to 6 feet high and 150 lbs. total.
